PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One man is in the hospital Monday evening after an officer-involved shooting at the corner of 19th and Plymouth streets in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia.
Police say the shooting unfolded around 1 p.m. A man inside a black SUV was shot and found inside that vehicle a short distance away at the corner of 18th Street and Cheltenham Avenue. He was taken to Einstein Hospital by police and is in stable condition.
Monday afternoon, 12 evidence markers sat at the intersection of 19th and Plymouth streets, and shell casings were seen on the ground. As police conduct the investigation, people who live in West Oak Lane are left wondering what started the shooting.
"There's always guns and shootings. Every time you turn around someone is getting shot in West Oak Lane," Charles James said. He's lived in the he neighborhood for decades and has seen the area change over the years.
"It used to be a beautiful neighborhood," he said. "I could sleep on my back porch or front porch anytime I wanted. But I'm afraid to do that now."
This latest shooting just continues a string of violent days for Philadelphia. (See Previous Story)
