Make Reasonable Resolutions
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's time for New Year's resolutions. Just a few hours to go. Do you have any?
Look, let's face it. It's nice to make resolutions, but don't fall into the trap of saying, 'I'm starting my resolution on the first, so I'll eat all my ice cream tonight.' or, 'I'm starting my resolution on the first, so I'm going to have another three cheeseburgers before midnight.
The reason I say this is that when it comes to resolutions, for the vast majority of us it probably won't last much through the end of January.
The reason most resolutions fail is because they are unrealistic and difficult to uphold.
Here is my suggestion. Make resolutions you can keep and know that the ones you keep aren't overly difficult to attain. Be realistic and know that consistency is key.
You want your resolutions to last.
