Moderator Tells Main Line Students NFL Will Not Like The Upcoming Movie, 'Concussion'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Main Line private school that has been on the cutting edge of concussion research brought in a panel of experts to talk about the issue today.
Shipley student athletes were given a tutorial on the adverse impact of repeated blows to the head and were also updated on the feedback they've given researchers by wearing head sensors during practices and games.
However, this question changed the focus to how Hollywood is handling the issue.
"Any of you guys see that there's a new movie with Will Smith called Concussion," Ashley Fox asked.
Fox, of ESPN, the panel moderator, told an audience of Shipley student athletes that the NFL is not going to like the movie about the pathologist who put a spotlight on the link between repeated blows to the head with his discovery of Chronic Traumatic Encepholapothy.
"They are now much more forward thinking when it comes to discussions, but for a long time they didn't want to admit that this game, this inherently violent game, was adversely affecting the men who played it at the highest levels," Fox said.
Fox went on to say that the a string of off-the-field incidents such as Tom Brady and Deflategate derailed the discussion. She believes the movie, which opens on Christmas Day, will put it back in the spotlight.
