Made Up Trade: Sixers Package Turner, Hawes To Charlotte
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's January 20th, and Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes are still on the Sixers. Who would have guessed?
As Sam Hinkie continues to weigh his options, and Brett Brown continues to ask the Sixers players to take shots as early as possible in the shot clock to make sure everyone's numbers are inflated, we'll keep making up trades.
Made-Up Trade Commissioner Ethan Giles (@Giles1228) comes up with one that will take advantage of Michael Jordan's inability to effectively run an NBA franchise. Let's do it!
Sixers Receive:
Ben Gordon (One Year, $13.2 Million)
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Three Years, $4.8 Million)
Top 8 Protected First Round Pick (from Detroit)
Bobcats Receive:
Evan Turner (One Year, $6.6 Million)
Spencer Hawes (One Year, $6.5 Million)
Why The Sixers Do It: This is really the best possible outcome for the Sixers. They get back expiring money in Ben Gordon, and a player who at least once this year (ok, hopefully just once), will get super hot and hit 18 three-pointers in one quarter. They get a young, high-upside (we hope) player in MKG, and a first round pick.
Why The Bobcats Do It: They spent a bunch of money on Al Jefferson (LOL!) to try and make the playoffs, and it still looks like it's going to be a struggle to make that happen. Both Turner (sort of) and Hawes add a little punch to the Bobcats offense. Also, Michael Jordan!
