Made Up Trade: Sixers Deal Young In Four-Team Deal With The Bulls

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – I like Thad Young. You like Thad Young. Everybody likes Thad Young.
So when the made-up trade every week focuses on Thad Young, it's not due to a lack of respect or like for Thad or his game. It's because the Sixers, at this point, have a collection of either untradeable assets, unvaluable assets, or assets that they probably won' trade yet. Young is the only player who doesn't fit into one of those three categories.

2014 Second Round Picks From Bulls, Mavs
Why The Sixers Do It: Pretty much fulfills every objective of this offseason. Make moves that add young assets or draft picks, clear salary and don't add wins to this year's total. This trade accomplishes all of those obectives.
Why The Bulls Do It: The Bulls don't have any plans (or so it seems) of re-signing Deng, who should command a nice, Iguodala size deal on the free agent market. They parlay Deng into youth and depth, adding Young to the frontcourt and Thornton to a backcourt that could really use a shooting guard.
Why The Mavericks Do It: Owner Mark Cuban has said that first round picks have become overvalued, there are too many teams "tanking," and there is some value in trying to win now by acquiring players based on performance not potential. Adding Deng is an upgrade over Marion, and makes the Mavs even closer to a legitimate pretty good team.
Why The Kings Do It: I'm not sure. Thornton is expendable because of Ben Macklemore. They get an expiring deal in Marion, and a couple of draft picks in the second round. I'm not sure what else they can expect in a trade for Marcus Thornton.
