Lower Providence Twp. To Contribute WW II Vet Recollections To Library of Congress
LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) - A Montgomery County town is collecting stories of war veterans today and tomorrow, to add to a national archive of such stories.
Casey Snyder, one of the coordinators of the Veterans History Project, says there are many senior citizens in Lower Providence Township so it was decided to collect the war stories of willing veterans.
Nineteen vets came forward, including World War II Air Force pilot Joseph Fulton.
"He had witnessed his best friend in the service get shot down right in front of him," Snyder says of Fulton, "but he saw him parachute out of the plane. And he waved at him when he was parachuting out. The unfortunate thing about that is no one ever heard from him."

The videotaped recollections, as well as donated photos and memorabilia, will be donated on Veterans Day as a Lower Providence Township contribution to the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress.
