2 Suspects Sought In Home Invasion In Montgomery County

WYNNEWOOD, Pa. (CBS) – Police are beefing up patrols in a Montgomery County neighborhood after a home invasion with a twist.
For police in Lower Merion Township, they've heard this scenario before: the suspects knock on the front door, when they get no answer they go around the back and find their way into the home.
Their problem in this case? The homeowners were inside and not only that, they were armed with a handgun.
Neighbor, Tatiana Reuven recalled, "I heard what I thought were firecrackers. I don't know five shots."
It happened around 1p.m. in the afternoon in the 1200 block of Remington Road in Wynnwood. Police confirm the homeowner fired several shots at the two male intruders, who immediately got away.
Tatiana said, "He was with his wife. They're usually home but there are never any cars in their driveway so maybe they suspected no one was home. It's really scary."
Sara Reuven, another neighbor added, "Obviously time is bad and people try to get easy stuff."
Tough times and the warm weather are keeping police quite busy. Investigators confirm they have seen an increase in the number of burglaries in the area, including more than a dozen break-ins and attempted burglaries in just one week in March. One of the victims told us she came home and found her place ransacked.
Eileen Gottlieb explained, "I went to the back door and the back door was wide open. There was debris all over so I booked out, dropped my package and called the police."
Tatiana said, "I just got an alarm put in last week and they were making fun of me, my family but I'm glad I'm safeguarding our hose. I have two little kids and it's really frightening."
According to police, the victims in this latest case were only able to tell them that they were confronted by two black males who were last seen leaving the area in a white car. Police say it is possible a third suspect may be involved, acting as their getaway driver.
