Longtime North Wildwood Entertainer Cozy Morley Dies
By David Madden
WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) - An icon down the shore is gone. Cozy Morley succumbed to an illness this week at the age of 87.
Morley hasn't performed in years, but for far longer than most can remember, he was someone to see in North Wildwood. He owned the Club Avalon and his vaudevillian style entertainment was as G-rated as you get.
A.J. Hawthorne was Cozy's brother-in-law. He tells KYW Newsradio he remembers big entertainers Cozy would have down there like Joey Bishop and Johnnie Ray.
And many people don't know Morley had a hit with "On the Way to Cape May" before Al Alberts did.
Morley had homes in Wildwood and Haddon Township. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
