Long Lines Forming As New iPhone Hits The Stores

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The iPhone 6 is now available, which of course means people are camping out and waiting in long lines all over trying to get their hands on one.
When the Apple store in Center City opened Friday morning, the line went down Walnut Street to 17th and then back to Sansom Street.
Fred Douinnard, visiting from the U.K., just happened to be in town for the night with a friend. It was unplanned, but they ended up in line for the new phone:
"In the U.K. stocks are very limited, so it's unlikely that you're going to get a chance to get one for about six, seven weeks, so it's good bragging rights," Douinnard says.
Jason Rappaport says he's here because he runs a start-up and needs the phones for development. He got here at 9 p.m. Thursday, and even though he waited 10 hours, he's still number 97 in line:
"It's way different than last year. I did this last year, got here at 8 p.m. and I was 7th in line."
He says he read books and zoned out to pass the time.
As for why people are waiting out in line -- the promise of a better screen, faster processor, better battery, and a better camera.
If you believe Apple, demand is far outweighing supply, so even some of those who've set up camp outside the company's retail stores might go home empty-handed.
