Logan Man Sentenced To Life In 2 Neighborhood Robbery-Murders
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty today to two separate robbery-murders, tearfully telling the court his victims were good people and didn't deserve what he did to them.
Siegfried Moore (inset photo), 52, pleaded guilty to the two robberies and murders that were committed just days apart in August of last year in his Logan neighborhood.
Moore, who has been sentenced to life in prison as part of the plea deal, told the court he knew both victims from the neighborhood and they didn't deserve what he did to them.
In the first murder, 19-year-old Devaughn Smith was stabbed multiple times inside the front door of his home during a fierce struggle in which Moore was also wounded.
And seven days later, Moore slaughtered Huan Mo, 59, inside her family-run laundromat (see related story and photo above).
Prosecutor Jennifer Bretschnieder says Moore admitted demanding money from the woman and becoming enraged after she offered only coins.
"He cornered Huan Mo in the office of the laundromat," Bretschnieder told KYW Newsradio, "and when she tried to escape from the office he began to brutally stab her. And according to the medical examiner and the autopsy, he stabbed her again and again."
Bretschnieder says the victim and her husband came to America from China ten years ago to make a better life.
