Locals React To Bernie Sander's Clinton Endorsement

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic Nominating Process. And with that Senator Bernie Sanders essentially dropped out of the presidential race and fully supported Hillary Clinton.

"I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president," Sanders said.

And like anything in politics there are differing opinions from those on both sides of the aisle.

"I thought it was hypocritical," said Joe DeFelice the chairman of the Philadelphia Republican Party.

Former Democrat Governor Ed Rendell says this coming together of Sanders and Clinton pretty much ensures that inside the building the convention is going to be fine.

But, the unity this endorsement brings still means work to unite ardent Sanders supporters behind Clinton.

"It's a step in the right direction. Does it guarantee 100% of the Sanders voters are going to vote for Hillary? No."

But Joe Defelice says the Vermont senator's endorsement rings false and will come off as phony in the eyes of true Sanders supporters.

"He disagreed with her the entire time. Now all of sudden he's coming back on the team," he said. "I think he's essentially selling out his base of voters."

Voters, however, appear to support the announcement. Saying that there glad he did it.

And while Democrats say the endorsement will likely bring peace inside the Wells Fargo Center. Both sides agree anything is still possible outside the convention.
