Local Radio Personality E. Steven Collins Passes At 58

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- E. Steven Collins, well known for his work not only as a broadcaster but also as a community leader, died overnight at the age of 58.
Collins was the host of numerous public affairs programs throughout his career, including his "Philly Speaks" on 100.3 WRNB.
Collins also appeared on numerous local and national television shows.

KYW Newsradio director of programming Steve Butler was a college classmate of Collins, and says Collins was set to receive a prestigious honor from Temple University, the alumni in the media award.
"Whoopi Goldberg is the featured guest and was to present that award to Collins," Butler explained.

In Philadelphia, Collins was associated with several major stations over the years including WHAT, WDAS, and WRNB.
It is believed that Collins passed away following a heart attack.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
