Local Officials React To Orlando Nightclub Shooting
PHILADELPHIA, PA - As the nation mourns the worst mass shooting in United States history, local Philadelphia and Pennsylvania politicians react and respond.
U.S. Rep. Brendan F. Boyle representing Pennsylvania's 13th district said his thoughts are in Orlando.
"On behalf of my constituents in Pennsylvania's Thirteenth Congressional District, my deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims in this shooting at an Orlando, Florida Nightclub popular with the LGBTQ community. Additionally, my thoughts and prayers remain with those injured in this senseless violence. It is also deeply troubling that this attack happened during Pride Weekend being celebrated nationally this weekend," he said. "I am thankful for the Orlando area law enforcement community who acted bravely to prevent more deaths. At this juncture, it is important that we get all of the facts and evidence correct before jumping to any conclusions as to motive. But let me be clear, horrific acts of violence such as this will not be tolerated and will only strengthen our commitment and resolve as one country to fight terror both at home and abroad."

Governor Tom Wolf called the nightclub shooting a national tragedy.
"Frances and I join with all Pennsylvanians in mourning the senseless deaths of at least 50 people in Orlando. This is a national tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and all Floridians. My administration, including the Pennsylvania State Police and Office of Homeland Security, is monitoring the situation and will respond swiftly to any threats to Pennsylvania," he said. "The state police will offer assistance to state and local law enforcement officials in Florida, and we stand ready to help if necessary. Public safety remains the top priority of my administration. We must unite and work together to prevent these horrific acts of violence that are far too frequent in communities and places where residents should feel safe."
