Local Organization Welcomes Philly College Students

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia's college students got a warm welcome Saturday afternoon as two blocks along the Ben Franklin Parkway were shut down for Campus Philly's annual College Day.

"We roll out the red carpet to the region's 300,000 college students," Campus Philly president Deborah Diamond said. "The goal is to introduce them to Philadelphia.  We have a neighborhood fair, an involvement fair, some great music, all the museums are free."

Diamond says they want to make new students feel welcome in Philadelphia.

"They get to feel that Philadelphia's a college town and they meet each other and connect with each other."

The event featured vendors, a live music stage, food and games.
