Local Lawmakers Get Weak Scores When It Comes To Environmentalism
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The struggle over the federal budget is also being used to attack environmental protections, says a conservation group.
The League of Conservation Voters does an annual scorecard but this is a special edition.
League Legislative Representative Alex Taurell says budget talks have taken an anti-environment, anti-health turn."We need to get our fiscal house in order but I think most Americans would be appalled to know that the spending bill is being used to remove the only limits on various types of pollution." Like mercury, coal ash and particulates.
The scorecard lists 25 votes and tracks each representative, "Bob Brady, he got a 96 percent. Chaka Fatah, 92 percent. Allison Schwartz, 100 percent, and then some of the area Republicans, Mike Fitzpatrick scored a 64, and Jim Gerlach scored a 40, among the highest scores for Republicans."
