Local FBI Agent Scores Movie Deal Based on His Book

by KYW's Michelle Durham

A Philadelphia-based FBI agent who spent his career tracking down stolen art and arresting those who took it, has sold the movie rights to his brand new tell all book just days after it started selling in stores.Bob Wittman lived a James Bond lifestyle for many years. He describes one situation he found himself in:

"I remember one case in Stockholm, Sweden where three individuals went into the National Museum of Art they did an armed robbery with a machine gun and stole $42 million worth of paintings. And I had to negotiate with them in a hotel room in Copenhagen to get the paintings back. And at that point we knew they were armed robbers and there is always an element of danger when you are working with people like that."

Wittman credits his wife, who stayed at home to raise their children while he was chasing down criminals all over the world. Now who would he like to see play him in the movie?

"If they are going to do an action movie with a young Bob Wittman I would say a Leonardo DiCaprio. If they are going to do an older Bob Wittman, maybe George Clooney.  He'd be great!"

The film is based on his book, Priceless: How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World's Stolen Treasures.
