Local Expert: New Round Of Trouble Beginning With Al Qaeda
By Mike Dougherty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A terrorism expert from La Salle University says this is the most drastic preventative action the U.S. government has taken in regards to a terror threat.
La Salle professor Edward Turzanski says Al Qaeda has regrouped since Osama Bin Laden's death and they are now more dangerous than any time in the past five years.
"This time around, it appears as though we've closed more than twice the number of embassies and consulates than we did back on the 10th anniversary of 9/11," Turzanski explained.
He says the U.S. is playing defense and letting Al Qaeda dictate the action.
"There must have been very specific credible threat information to trigger this," Turzanski said.
Turzanski believes this might be just the beginning of a new round of trouble with Al Qaeda.
