Local Elementary School Gets Flyered Up During A Pep Rally For The Flyers
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Flyers home opener is Saturday and students at an elementary school in Fishtown were showing their enthusiasm at a pep rally today.
Students at Alexander Adaire Elementary traded in school uniforms for their flyers best Wednesday; orange and black was everywhere.
Flyers' hockey ambassador Bob "The Hound" Kelly led an assembly for the kids.
"They're all Flyered up. They know when the home opener is - 3 o'clock Saturday [versus the] Pittsburgh Penguins. We are going to stomp them."
"We got to meet Bob Kelly and he signed my shirt and my necklace," said third grader Farra McGee.
Reporter: "Who is going to win on Saturday?"
Farra: "The Phillies."
Reporter: "The Phillies?"
Farra: "I mean the Flyers."
A pizza party was awarded to the fifth grade for their Flyered up decorated classrooms.
Collin Ritzhiemer worked hard on a banner.
"It took us about two hours just to do it. To put it all together, color it [and] glue it," said Collin.
Collin's brother John, who is in the third grade, is confident the flyers will beat the penguins.
"Because they have the best players and they know what to do," said John.
