Local Doctor Publishes Handbook for Medical Community
A doctor at Jefferson Medical College has written a book on heart problems to help his colleagues.
KYW'S Lynne Adkins reports the Jefferson Heart Institute Handbook of Cardiology is 500 pages of information on cardiac disorders and care written for medical students, residents and doctors.
Dr. Paul Mather, a professor of medicine says 21 of his colleagues contributed to the work:
"It's supposed to be a resource that can fit in one of their medical jacket pockets and that way they can look at it for help in managing people, diagnosing disorders."
He says it covers a full range of cardiac disorders, prevention and management and imaging techniques. He says it will be available at medical book stores and at medical schools across the country.
