Local College Student Uses YouTube To Discuss Diabetes
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – a 19-year-old Temple University student has started a YouTube channel to encourage diabetics to discuss the disease.
Sophomore Emily Hooven of Langhorne, Bucks County has type one diabetes and discovered first hand that many like her don't share the details and information about the disease:
"For a while you think that it's just not something important enough to talk about and a lot of people expressed that a lot of people said they didn't think people would care what they had to say or that they would relate."
Diabetes Diaries on YouTube started as a class project, it features video of people in Philadelphia talking about diabetes and how they cope.
Hooven hopes others will be inspired to share their stories, struggles and offer support to others in the same position.
