Local Children's Choir Traveling To Sing For Pope Francis
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local boys and girls choir is heading to the Vatican to sing for Pope Francis on the Feast of the Epiphany January 6.
The angelic voices of the Archdiocesan Children's Choir rise from the Basilica in preparation for their trip to the Vatican.
"It's not very often that we get to travel internationally and to be working with the Sistine Chapel choir and their director," Michael Zubert, director of the choir, said.
Sixty boys and girls and more than 40 family members will leave New Year's Eve for Italy.
The choir sang for the Pope while he visited Philadelphia in September and now they will again be performing for the Holy Father, this time in Rome with the Sistine Chapel Choir and six other choirs.
"I'm nervous but really excited at the same time," sophomore Emma Markley told Eyewitness News.
The choir will start the new year traveling Rome and hoping to finally greet Pope Francis face to face.
