Local Casino Operator to Fund Norristown's July 4th Fireworks Display

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- There's good news for the residents of Norristown: the Fourth of July fireworks celebration is back on!
After reports that budget constraints would cause the skies over Norristown to remain dark this Fourth of July holiday, a Montgomery County business decided to step up and do something about it.
Officials from Valley Forge Casino Resort have presented the borough with a check for $8,000 -- enough to cover the cost of the fireworks display.
"We were met with such a warm reception," says Jennifer Reese, the resort's marketing director. "They couldn't be more grateful. I think that they really appreciate that we called them and got involved."
This is good news for some local business owners who were planning to hit the streets this weekend to try to raise enough money for the fireworks.
The celebration also features a 5k run, a parade, concerts, and amusements.
