Local Casino Investors File Appeal Over Decision To Revoke Lincense in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Local investors in the long-delayed Foxwoods casino have now gone to court in an effort to overturn the Gaming Control Board's decision to revoke the project's license.
More than a month after the Gaming Control Board voted to revoke the license for the Foxwoods project, the local investors have now filed an appeal of that decision to Pennsylvania's Commonwealth Court.
Less than two weeks ago, the investors filed a petition seeking to have the gaming board reconsider its decision. The board had not yet decided whether to grant reconsideration, but a spokesman for the panel says an appeal to Commonwealth Court would supersede any reconsideration by gaming regulators.
Also, the gaming board has not yet written its official justification for its decision to strip the investors of their license.
