'Goldfinger' Car Sold At London Auction
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Going, going, gone! A Philadelphia broadcaster has sold James Bond's tricked-out Aston-Martin from the movie "Goldfinger" at a London auction.
The silver Aston Martin DB5, complete with machine guns and ejector seat, was sold for $4.1 million -- a little less than the $5 million it was expected to fetch, but plenty of cash for B101 radio station owner Jerry Lee to pour into his foundation for criminology research:
"I feel obviously a little sad because I've had the car for 41 years. But actually I feel good because with this amount of money I can do a lot of good with my charitable work, you know, Mainly fighting crime."
Lee bought the car in 1969 for $12,000. He says the winning bidder was a collector from Cincinnati, who plans to put it in a museum.
