Local Bars Getting Ready For Thanksgiving Eve Festivities
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Many local bars are gearing up for one of their biggest nights of the year.
Bartenders and managers in Old City tell KYW Newsradio the day before Thanksgiving is a huge night, second only to New Year's Eve:
"Everyone has the next day off. A lot of people are coming home to see their family so it's kind of like a reunion night."
Even though it's a Wednesday, they treat it like a special Saturday night:
"We prepare for more numbers. Security is always doubled up. We bring in guest DJs."
With all that traffic at the bar, how do you get a drink?
"You will wait a lot less on that second round if you tip well on the first round."
And if you are drinking, do it safely:
"Don't put your drink down. Sometimes somebody might slide something into somebody's drink. Hold onto your drink, be with friends and make sure you eat during the night."
Also, some advice to the ladies from one manager -- don't bring a purse, as many women seem to lose their purses on big nights like Thanksgiving eve.
