Local Author Has 'Wisdom To Know The Difference'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Popularized by Alcoholics Anonymous, The Serenity Prayer teaches valuable lessons in the face of life's trials and tribulations. A local author found the prayer's appeal to be universal.
Believers, agnostics and even un-believers struggle with the fact that human life is imperfect and difficult. But these words: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference", not only give comfort but also make change possible, as local author Eileen Flanagan found when she interviewed a diversity of people for her book, The Wisdom To Know The Difference.:
"It's full of stories people can relate to. And then at the end of every chapter there are questions to help the reader think, how does this relate to me, what lessons have I learned so far in my life."
Flanagan's stories demonstrate how people were able to act or not act once they had the wisdom to know the difference.
