Limited Amtrak Service Restored Between Philadelphia and D.C.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Amtrak has completed enough storm damage repairs to allow limited service between Washington D.C. and Philadelphia.

As a result of Friday night's storms, many fallen trees blocked tracks and fell on wires, which resulted in the loss of signal power.

This forced Amtrak to suspend service between the two cities for much of the day on Saturday.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday, trains are able to single track from Washington to south of Baltimore. All tracks are open north of Baltimore.

Amtrak says to expect significant delays and crews are continuing to work on repairs in order to restore full service as soon as possible.
