Like The Pope? You'll Love His Album
By Michael Cerio
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Fresh off a rock star reception in the United States, Pope Francis is set to release his first album.
On November 27th the rock and pop infused Wake Up! will be available, featuring excerpts of the Pope set to elaborate musical arrangements. The first single, "Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!" premiered Friday via Rolling Stone and features the urgent pontiff speaking over Rush-styled rock with horns and electric guitar. You can hear it here.
Throughout the album, Pope Francis delivers speeches in English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese on many of the same subjects he touched on in Washington, New York, and Philadelphia. Religious liberty, helping those in need, and environmental concerns are all featured. It's the kind of conscious rock you would expect from a Pope with a Twitter account, with a portion of the proceeds going to help refugees.
The Holy Father will have some competition on the charts in November as One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Adele plan to release albums earlier in the month. You can currently pre-order the album through iTunes.
