'LifeRide' Departs From Philadelphia To Raise Money For AIDS Research
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - How do motorcycles, skin care products, and the fight against AIDS fit together? Very profitably, apparently.
Rock music blared inside and out, around the Kiehl's store at 18th and Walnut, heralding the start of this year's LifeRide.
Kiehl's President Chris Salgardo was ready to rumble... the engine.
"Our next stop will be in Burlington, Massachusetts, and then we'll end on Saturday in New York's East Village and we'll have 160 motorcyclists with us, because it's our 160th anniversary."
Kevin Frost, president of amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, says the ride is about both raising the profile of the fight against AIDS, and paying for it.
"Over the course of the next week, Kiehl's will donate $100,000 to anfAr in support of our research programs."
Fundraising includes texting donations and the profits from sales of a limited edition Kiehl's face cream.>
