Levittown Man Will Stand Trial For Wrong-Way I-95 Crash That Killed Philly Cop

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Prosecutors today detailed the horrific crash that killed Philadelphia Police Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo in July, and the alleged drunk driver charged with killing him has been ordered held for trial.
One witness testified that the crash "was like an explosion" when Officer Lorenzo, on his motorcycle and northbound on I-95, was hit head on by a car traveling in the wrong direction (See Related Story).
State police who responded said it looked like a bomb had gone off, with a debris field covering nearly the length of a football field.
Lorenzo was pronounced dead at the scene (another related story).
"Just listening to what was said in that courtroom today, just goes ... I mean, I, 27 years on this job, I've never heard anything so chilling as what Brian went through in his last few seconds of his life," said police union president John McNesby afterward.
Officer Lorenzo's family, friends and fellow officers packed the courtroom, but his widow left crying as details of the accident scene, including pictures and video, were presented during the hearing.
Police say defendant John Leck had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he was tested shortly after the crash (another related story).
