LeSean McCoy: Vick Will Be The Starting Quarterback For The Jets
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After five seasons with the Eagles, Michael Vick was released in the off season. Now, with the New York Jets, Vick will compete for the starting job with second-year QB, Geno Smith. Smith threw for 3,046 yards, 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions his rookie season.
On Monday at the Eagles Youth Partnership charity event, LeSean McCoy told the New York Post that his former teammate will win the job in New York.
"Vick is going to be the starting quarterback this year," McCoy said. "He's way better than Geno Smith. Way better. That's no contest."
McCoy continued on to say the only question is if Vick can avoid injury, something that has been hard for Vick to do the past few seasons. Vick, 33, appeared in just seven games last season for the Eagles and eventually lost his starting job to Nick Foles.
"[Vick's health is] the big question, and that's the only thing," McCoy said. "The thing here was, he didn't lose his job. He just got hurt and lost his job to injury. But as far as who's the better quarterback, he's way better than Geno Smith. That's obvious."
The Jets signed Vick to a one-year deal worth $5 million in March.
