LeSean McCoy: "Sky's The Limit" For Eagles' Offense

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles are getting set for their season opener against the Jaguars this weekend at Lincoln Financial Field. Eagles' fans have anticipated this game for months now and the players are ready to prove that they can build on the 10-6 season they had last year.

LeSean McCoy, the key to Chip Kelly's offensive attack, chatted with Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis on Friday afternoon on 94WIP. The running back is confident in what the Eagles can do this season, especially the offense for which he says "the sky's the limit."

McCoy touched on the anticipation that comes along with the first week of the season. It seems like such a long process to reach the games that mean something and McCoy and his teammates are ready to get the action started.

"We're focused. We can't wait to get out there and play ball," the Eagles' back said. "We went against each other. We've had preseason games, but there's nothing like the real game."

McCoy knows that his contribution to those real games is going to be made rushing the ball behind the players in the trenches. "I think the guys up front, we're very productive on the ground," McCoy said.

He even referenced the 2,000 rushing yard prediction he made earlier in the offseason. "I have the best offensive line in the league. I'm not saying 2,000 yards, but I'm saying collectively as a team that we can get a lot of things established.

McCoy was also asked about a story regarding a divisional rival. Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants guaranteed that his team would win the NFC East and McCoy shared his thoughts on that prediction.

"I love it," McCoy said of Pierre-Paul's guarantee and ones like it. McCoy said the all the talk combined with the familiarity he has with his opponents makes things fun.

"[Pierre-Paul] is the type of player that can make a difference between the Giants winning the division and the Giants not winning the division," McCoy added. McCoy stopped short of saying anything too specific about the Giants.

"We can't worry about the Giants. We gotta worry about Game 1, the Jaguars."

McCoy continued to rave about his fellow offensive mates adding that he believes the team has every type of player needed on that side of the ball to succeed. McCoy started off by praising Darren Sproles, Jeremy Maclin and Zach Ertz. He then gave some insight and explained why the hype surrounding Jordan Matthews is warranted.

"[Matthews] is young. He works hard. I don't have to say that much because you hear all about him." McCoy likened him to a former Eagles wide receiver, Terrell Owens.

"He has that T.O. type of body and speed to him. I'm talking about the body frame and the way that they run."

McCoy then made sure to highlight Riley Cooper and Brent Celek for the toughness that they exhibit in the passing game. McCoy saved the best for last.

"The best player out of everybody, that I didn't mention yet, is Nick Foles," McCoy said. "He's playing lights out. He's playing with confidence. He's grown from being one of the guys to the guy."

McCoy was also smart is saving some praise for his head coach who he described as a "genius."

If the Eagles offense winds up living up to the praise that McCoy laid out on Friday, this is going to be one special group.
