LeSean McCoy On Sunday's Game Against Cleveland: 'We Got You'
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Even though rookie quarterback Nick Foles and Michael Vick play different styles of football, LeSean McCoy says there is one thing they do share; fearlessness.
"He's actually a different rookie than I usually see," McCoy said to 94WIP's Angelo Cataldi and The WIP Morning Show on Friday. "As far as his size, he's a big kid. And one thing you can't teach---he has no fear. No fear to get sacked, to get hit. He sits in the pocket, he's very poised, and he's relaxed. In the huddle, he comes in there like he's a vet. And as an older guy, you kinda love that. Everyone on the team is definitely surprised and happy with him. He's a hard worker, he's a great guy to get a long with."
Though patience in the pocket isn't one of Mike Vick's strong suits, McCoy definitely appreciates what the way he plays. "Mike, he plays so tough. He's one of those guys where he might get banged up, but on the same play he might break out with a great throw or a great scramble," he said. "He's a guy that sacrifices his body for the team, and it's hard to tell a player like that to tone it down or don't play as tough, and we want that. With things like that, you got to have the depth. And we have the depth, with Trent Edwards and Nick Foles."
If there is one thing every Eagles player seems to share this year, it's confidence, and McCoy is no exception. "I feel like we're on the right path. I think Coach Reid has done a great job of getting a group of guys together, and we're ready to roll," he said. "I'm so excited about this season, I kind of forget about all the last year's feeling and emotions. I kind of moved on. The season didn't go well, that's all I can remember."
As for Sunday against the Browns, will the Eagles start the season 1-0? "We got you," McCoy assured.
