LeSean McCoy Not Bothered By Reid's Pass-Heavy Offense
By Steve Beck
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was on 94WIP's Angelo Cataldi and the WIP Morning Show Friday and addressed the hot topic of how many carries (or lack thereof) he gets a game.
Since the sloppy win against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, fans have been wondering why McCoy doesn't get the opportunity to run the ball more often.
"Well, I say that I guess I got enough for us to win the game. I think it's kind of how the game was going, up and down, the emotions, the turnovers, the penalties. I don't judge the call to throw the ball that much, we won the game," McCoy said.
McCoy was then asked if he is bothered by Reid's pass-heavy offense.
"It's not a problem. There's things I can do better in the passing game to be more effective when we throw the ball."
McCoy said he often offers his input into the game plan.
"Coach Marty [Mornhinweg], our offensive coordinator, he is very comfortable with the players. Let them know what they see on the field, let them know if they get open, if we could run the ball, or if we could run this play. He's very open for that. And a lot of players do that, and I do it myself," McCoy said.
Fans weren't particularly thrilled with the lackluster win against the Browns, but McCoy said a win this weekend against the Ravens will go a long way to convincing them that they are a Super Bowl caliber team.
"Well, I could tell you this, if we beat the Ravens by marginal points, they'll be back on our side and they will feel like we are a winning team, and hopefully a championship team."
