LeSean McCoy Confident In Barbre Replacing Johnson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson will reportedly be suspended for the first four games of the NFL season for using performance enhancing drugs.
His teammate who runs behind that Eagles offensive line, LeSean McCoy, is confident Allen Barbre can adequately replace Johnson at tackle.
"It's definitely crucial because the biggest thing about it is, Lane is good man," McCoy told Michael Barkann and Ike Reese Thursday on the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show. "Lane is real good. I think as a rookie, the things that he's accomplished, it only gets better and he looks in good shape from the small camps we did have. So it might be tough, but the good thing about it [Allen] Barbre---a guy we paid some money to---he's a good backup man and he'll play. I think he'll make some plays where---obviously you'll want Lane in there, but Barbre I think does a good enough job where you don't see a big difference. I guess that's important about really putting a team together. You gotta have some type of depth."
Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was recently ranked 15th among NFL quarterbacks by other league members, despite throwing for 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions last season. McCoy says 2014 is the year Foles earns the respect he deserves.
"I just think right now in Nick Foles' career, he's one of them guys you see the stats and you're like, 'Is he really that good? Is he? Is he?' That question you have and the way he's been looking man, he looks the same," McCoy said. "He's one of, I think, one of the best quarterbacks in the league. It's a matter of time before everybody really agrees, 'OK yeah he's really that good.' And this is the year I think he proves that."
