Lehigh County School Evacuated After Students Sickened
UPPER SAUCON, Pa. (CBS) -- A middle school in Lehigh County was evacuated Wednesday morning after several students became sickened from fumes and were taken to the hospital.
Authorities say St. Michael's School at 4121 Old Bethlehem Pike in Upper Saucon Township was evacuated at about 10 a.m. after a mystery odor was detected in the church adjacent to the school.
Students were inside the church at the time and were overcome by what was described as an odor. Medics responded and several students were treated at the scene while others were transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
Officials from the gas company responded and students were dismissed for the day.
