SLATINGTON, Pa. (CBS) -- Slatington police say a mother is charged with involuntary manslaughter and related offenses in the shooting death of her 19-month-old son Saturday night.
Police say 26-year-old Holly Pallone, who lives in an apartment above an auto parts store on Walnut Street, claims she was sitting on her bed taking the bullets out of a 44-caliber gun she planned to sell for $200 to buy drugs, when the gun fired.
According to police, a bullet from the gun went through the mattress Pallone was sitting on and struck her son Anthony Pallone Junior in the forehead, killing him.
Police say he was lying in a pack and play type crib, close to the ground.
Pallone, who is new to the area, called 9-1-1 and was later arrested and charged.
A district judge set her bail at $1-million Sunday.
An autopsy on the boy is expected to be performed Monday.
