Lebron James Says Ric Flair Helped Create Swag
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The word 'swag' has probably worn out its welcome. That said, when Lebron James says that a wrestling legend helped create it, it's sort of a fun story.
WWE Hall Of Fame member 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair attended the Miami Heat's Wednesday night game against the Charlotte Bobcats, and James definitely took notice.
"When I was a kid, I loved wrestling," James told the Associated Press. "He was one of the guys I loved, too. I think he's one of the creators of what we call swag these days with the Rolexes and the stretch limos and all the girls and all that stuff. He's one of the creators of swag."
Flair made an appearance in Philadelphia last week during Monday Night Raw, as he presented the Slammy award for 'Superstar Of The Year,' and then battled with WWE champion CM Punk.
Perhaps if James wins another NBA title, he'll tell the rest of the league that "to be the man, they have to beat the man," followed by a trademark Flair "woooooooooo."
