Lebron James: 'I Will End Up On The NBA Mount Rushmore'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's not crazy to suggest that when all is said and done, Lebron James will be considered one of the greatest few NBA players of all time.
As it turns out, Lebron himself agrees with that sentiment.
James was asked by NBA TV who would be on the "basketball Mount Rushmore," or who would be the four faces of NBA basketball that would represent the greatest of all time.
James said the first three are easy: Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
"And I would say the fourth... wow, this is so tough. The greatest players of all time that I'd like to see on Mount Rushmore? This is not fair ... Oscar Robertson. Those are my four."
James was then asked if he himself would ever find his face on the mountain.
"I'm going to be one of the top four that's ever played this game, for sure," he said. "And if they don't want me to have one of those top four spots, they'd better find another spot on that mountain. Somebody's gotta get bumped, but that's not for me to decide. That's for the architects."
James has won two championships, four MVP's, and is one of the few to every win a regular season MVP and a Finals MVP in the same season. He regularly leads his team in points, rebounds, and assists, as well as defending just about every position on the court.
Still, putting himself above legends like Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, even Kobe Bryant, is sure to raise some eyebrows.
It's worth pointing out that James is just 30 years old, and did not see some of the older greats like Chamberlain, while they were still active.
