Leading Cause Of Absenteeism

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Here is a question to think about. What do you think is the leading cause of absenteeism in this country? The answer, according to research from the National Institute of Mental Health is depression.
This mood disorder is the leading cause of nonfatal disability among people 15 to 44, and nothing else is even close. It costs the United States $53 billion, that's billions of dollars annually in direct treatment costs, mortality and lost productivity.
The major issue with depression is that it starts so early in life.
Most people with depression have symptoms in their twenties. If you suffer from depression, you need to take the evidence. You need to look at it and realize that you're not alone. You need to get help. It can make a world of difference.
As far as the other leading causes: they are carpal tunnel syndrome, injured backs and neck strain. Auto accidents as well as slips and falls contribute greatly to problems.
