Leaders, Politicians Gear Up For Pennsylvania Progressive Summit
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Hundreds of Pennsylvania's leaders are expected to gather right here in Philadelphia this winter.
The Pennsylvania Progressive Summit is a gathering of community leaders, activists and elected officials from across the Commonwealth. The conference is hosted by Keystone Progress, an online advocacy group. Jonathan Saidel is a member of its board of directors and says the summit will focus on key public policy issues.
"Things like healthcare, the environment, the creation of jobs, good sustainable jobs. Things that are important to get our nation out of the malaise and really combat the government that exists now."
Saidel says about a thousand progressive leaders attended last year's summit in Pittsburgh. Reverend Jesse Jackson was the keynote speaker.
"When they leave these sessions, they should be better informed and better motivated to help implement resolutions in Pennsylvania."
The summit will take place on February 10 through February 12th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. F or more information, visit www.paprogressivesummit.org.
