Lawyer For Former Christie Aide Bridget Kelly Criticizes Bridge Scandal Report
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS/AP) — A lawyer for an aide fired by Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for ordering traffic to be blocked near the George Washington Bridge says the only credible investigation into the lane closings is being conducted by the U.S. attorney's office.
Ex-aide Bridget Kelly's lawyer Michael Critchley casts doubt on the credibility of a report commissioned by Christie that exonerates him and blames her.
In a statement, Kelly's lawyer says, in part:
"Despite Mr. Mastro's editorialized comments to the contrary, Ms. Kelly is not a liar. She is a single mother of four children who was deeply devoted and committed to her job at the Office of the Governor."
"The only credible investigation into the lane closings is being conducted by the U.S. Attorney's Office."
Thursday's report concluded Kelly and another Christie loyalist acted alone in creating traffic gridlock in Fort Lee to punish its Democratic mayor, who didn't endorse Christie for re-election. It casts Kelly in unflattering personal terms.
Critchley said Friday the venomous tone has no place in a professional report.

Kelly didn't cooperate with the governor's review. Her evidence could contradict the conclusion no one else in Christie's office had advance knowledge of the plot.
