'Latkapalooza' This Weekend In Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - On the fifth night of Hanukkah, the Gershman Y celebrates the potato pancake.
The 8th annual "Latkapalooza" is this weekend at the Gershaman Y. Donna Katz organizes the event:
"It's this Sunday from 2-4. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids and kids under 5 get in free."
Katz says to come hungry:
"This year we have ten restaurants coming in to prepare their version of the latka."
Ten restaurants means a wide variety and some interesting interpretations of the classic dish:
"A few of our restaurants really outdid themselves. We have celery root latkas with pear chutney and saffron cream from Bar Ferdinand. We have the Spanilatika from Estia which is a greek style latka. We have a sweet potato latka with smoked onion, apple sauce, and cheddar cheese from Percy Street Barbecue. They're all delicious."
And she recommends getting here early to make sure you get a chance to taste everything.
