'Late Late Show's James Corden To Host Grammys In February
NEW YORK (CBS/AP) — Late-night host and "Carpool Karaoke" commuter James Corden will be behind the wheel at the Grammy Awards telecast next February.
It will be the first turn for Corden presiding over the Grammycast, which for the past five years has had LL Cool J as host. It airs live Feb. 12 from Los Angeles on CBS, the network and The Recording Academy announced Tuesday.
"Thanks to 'Carpool Karaoke,' we've all been on some incredible rides with James, and The Recording Academy couldn't be more excited to welcome his passion and enthusiasm for music, both as an entertainer and a fan, to the GRAMMY stage on Feb. 12," said Recording Academy president/CEO Neil Portnow. "He's got big shoes to fill after the magnificent run we had with LL COOL J, but James Corden is a commanding, dynamic showman who, we believe, is perfect to host the GRAMMY Awards."
"I am truly honored to be hosting The GRAMMYs next year. It's the biggest, most prestigious award show in music, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night," said James Corden.
For two years Corden has hosted CBS' "The Late Late Show," where his popular "Carpool
Karaoke" feature finds him on the road with popular entertainers in the passenger seat as they sing hit songs.
Corden hosted the Tony Awards last June, which brought him back to Broadway, where in 2012 he won a Tony of his own for his performance in the play "One Man, Two Guvnors."
