Lankenau Nurses Dish Out Health Tips For Holiday Travelers At 30th Street Station
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Nurses from Lankenau Medical Center visited 30th Street Station Friday afternoon to offer travelers tips for healthy holiday travel.
"A simple sneeze, cough, it's uncovered, they're unprotected and their shaking your hand."
Nurse Louise Walek says the holiday travels leaves many families more vulnerable to colds and the flu. She says one of the best things you can do to protect your self and your children is to wash your hands:
"Hand washing is one of the best defenses against germs and viruses."
One of the easiest ways to wash your hands is with hand sanitizer. Walek also suggests that travels use sanitizing wipes to clean common surfaces like food trays.
"Everyone should get a flu shot for the flu season," recommends Walek as another way to stay healthy.
She also says, taking your daily dose of Vitamins C and E, getting sleep and staying hydrated by drinking more water will also keep the sniffles away as you travel for turkey day.
