Search For Escaped Prisoner Leads To Heroin Packaging Operation
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police in Philadelphia discovered a heroin packaging operation while they were searching for an escaped prisoner on Tuesday night.
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, police say a 24-year-old man was shot in the chest in the 4000 block of L Street in Juniata. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he's currently listed in stable condition.
Around 7:46 p.m., officers arrested 19-year-old Lamic Conde, who police say was driving a getaway car connected to the shooting. Sometime during the apprehension authorities say Conde was able to escape the police car.
During the search for the Conde, a police K9 was able to track Conde's scent to a local garage in the 900 block of Russell Street. In the garage, authorities say they found guns, drugs, heroin, and another sort of high powered weapons.
Police don't believe Conde is the shooter. He and gunman remain at large at this time.
He is described as a 5' 8" man, weighing around 150 pounds. He has a red tattoo just above his right eye that reads "Family." Police say there are also tattoos around his neck.
He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans.
