La Salle's Ryan Richter Eyes Pro Soccer Career

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The college soccer season is in the books for the local squads, and you would be hard pressed to find a player who had a better campaign than La Salle senior midfielder Ryan Richter.

The Atlantic 10's "Offensive Player of the Year" led the Explorers with 14 goals, and he was clutch: half his tallies were game winners.  Richter (above and right) says he relishes the opportunity to come up big in key moments.

"I just look at it as being a leader and hopefully setting the right example on the field for some of these guys for the future," Richter says.  "It means a lot because I think people you are playing with start to look up to you a little bit in situations like that, so it's good to be a leader on the field in that way."

Richter says his work ethic is what sets him apart.

"I work out every day, all summer, getting ready for a season," he says.  "I can go for ninety minutes in the game, and I run as fast at the end of the game as I do in the beginning of the game.  I think it's my work ethic, any coach I've had will tell you that.  I'm a hard worker.  Maybe not all the talent in the world, but I use everything that I have and I really do try my hardest."

Richer helped lead La Salle to a 9-7-3 record and an appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship Game.  He says he's hopeful that he will get the opportunity to continue playing soccer at the professional level.
