La Salle University Changes Long-Time Rule To Find Replacement For Retiring President

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The president of La Salle University is retiring next year -- and a rule that is been in place for 150 years has been changed to find his replacement.
When brother Michael McGinniss retires in June he will have served 15 years as La Salle's president (read related story).
Bill Sautter, chairman of the board of trustees at La Salle University, said the bylaws have been changed to lift the rule that the president of the university has to be a Christian brother.
"Unfortunately, you know, the religious, catholic religious, the amount of people in that is declining," Sautter says, "so the pool is getting smaller and smaller.
He says the international search for La Salle's next president will soon begin.
"We will go to all the brothers first and their different providences," Sautter's says, "and then the search will go public."
