La Salle Professor Says Bin Laden Death Is Good News For US Foreign Policy, Domestic Peace
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - With Osama bin Laden dead, are we any safer? The answer, according to one Philadelphia expert, is a bit.
"One-hundred percent" is the grade that La Salle University professor Edward Turzanski gives the military operation that killed bin Laden, although he wishes the body had been viewed by independent journalists before burial at sea.
Turzanski (above), a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, notes that two US administrations vowed to get him, and now that's a promise kept.
"This is good news. Let us celebrate the good news for what it is worth. He'll never have the opportunity to stand in a court and propagandize," he points out. "He won't have the opportunity to stick a finger in our eye every time something goes wrong for us in any part of the world, and he will now meet his ultimate price, in eternity."
But Prof. Turzanski says Iran's government and Pakistan's instability remain worrisome drivers of terrorism.
