KYW Newsradio 1060 Completes The Move To CBS Broadcast Center In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Beginning this Sunday at 5 p.m., KYW Newsradio 1060 will be broadcasting from its new home at the newly-named CBS Broadcast Center in the Spring Garden section of the City. The all-news, all the time radio powerhouse will be under the same roof and share resources with CBS 3's Eyewitness News, the first name in local TV news, and CBSPhilly.com, giving CBS Local Media the largest multi-platform local news organization in the Philadelphia market.
The CBS Broadcast Center, the first local TV facility in the country built to be totally HD, has been the home of CBS 3 and The CW Philly since 2007. The facility has been upgraded for the radio station relocation with the addition of three new state-of-the-art air studios and four production studios for guest interviews. In addition, Newsradio's 100-plus audio sources and all of CBS 3's live microwave and satellite news feeds will be available to the facility's television, radio and digital news teams.
With CBS Philadelphia's local news assets now under the same roof, the stations will have increased opportunities to collaborate and contribute to each other's broadcasts, creating greater breadth and depth to the reporting offered by both stations and at www.CBSPhilly.com.
"This move represents an exciting next step in the great relationship we have built with our Eyewitness News colleagues, and an opportunity to utilize our shared resources to better serve our listeners and CBS 3's viewers," says Marc Rayfield, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for CBS RADIO. "There are a number of ways we can deliver timely reports to local residents better than anyone in the market, no matter what local brand they are interacting with, to get the latest news, headlines and community information."
"Ultimately, it's a win-win situation for both the news consumer and CBS," adds Jon Hitchcock, President and General Manager of CBS 3 and The CW Philly. "Whether you are getting your information on television, radio, online or mobile, this move brings together two powerhouse stations, making each stronger and better-positioned for the future."
CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation. KYW Newsradio 1060 is owned and operated by CBS RADIO.
